Our wood-recycling workshop is based in Uig and currently employs 6 full time and 2 part time workers in the manufacture of bespoke pieces of furniture and craft gifts. We have a product price list available and a craft showroom on site at Atlantic House, Uig.
TouchWood is the only truly rural *Social Firm in the Highlands. It was set up in 2001 by the Social Firm Development Group.
*A Social Firm is a business created to use and market its products or services in order to fulfil its social purpose.
Its Social Purpose is to employ a significant number of people who may have disabilities, health problems or periods of long-term unemployment.
Everybody will be paid equally, at market rate, for work done - irrespective of differences in ability.
Support comes partly from local/regional organisations and authorities however a considerable part of our income is derived from the sale of our products and services.
