Kylerhea Area
'The road to Kylerhea'
KYLERHEA
This is the site of the oldest ferry crossing on Skye. Kylerhea is reached by a single track roadand provides a scenic alternative to the bridge crossing.
A major crossing point on the old drovers route, at times cattle and ponies could be seen crossing here in their hundreds. The first animal would be tied to the boat, the next to the previous animals tail and so on. The boat would set off and the beasts would be made to swim across the channel.
