| FISKAVAIG (Norse: Fish Bay) PORTNALONG (Gaelic: Port of boats) A picturesque settlement on the shores of Loch Harport. After the first World Wara number of families from Lewis and Harris were re-settled here. On Skye they were able to earn a living through weaving, fishing and crofting. Every year until 1939 a gathering was held in Portnalong and woven goods were offered for sale. |
