Bracadale lies at the head of Loch Eynort . The settlement was established in the 1770s,one of its founders felt that the harbour was 'unspeakably secure' and described it as the 'Milford Haven' of the Western Isles. Bracadale was also famed for occurances of 'second sight' or psychic ability.

South-east of the roads end, near the shore is a chambered cairn.Near the turning for Ullinish is a viewpoint looking out over Loch Bracadale and on the slopes behind are the remains of a fort, Dłn Mór, and a broch, Dłn Béag.
